Summary

Effects such as flames, smoke, and liquids play an important role in adding flow and power to artworks. Nowadays, these effects have become essential for creating various artworks for illustrations and videos. However, it requires a great deal of effort and artistic expertise to draw them well.

In this project, focusing on the effects in character illustration, we present a novel drawing interface for stereoscopic effects with 3D pottery wheel-type transparent canvases. In character illustration, flow of effects is often visualized on a simple curved geometry to organize its composition. Users are allowed to use transparent curved canvases in order to design three-dimensional flow effects that surround the target character efficiently and effectively.
